Abstract


Be based on observation in the greaders of SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmadu often meet problems of greaders on the learning, that is greaders often working task or study one day before collecting task or before test. The greaders thinking on pressed situation or on pressure accumulation time task, they can finished the task. This action not effective and the result not optimal because limited time for finish of task.

 

The objective of research was to find out the effectiveness of discussion group counseling service using Behavioristic approachment to deal with academic procrastination in the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmadu in the school year of 2016/2017.

 

This study was a Guiding and Counseling action research (GCAR). This study was conducted in two cycles, each of which consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.  The subject of research was the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmadu. Considering the result of observation, the subject behaving academic procrastination consisted of 15 students. Technique of collecting data used was academic procrastination scale and observation on the finding in the field. The data validation was conducted using data triangulation and expert judgment from the two consultants. The data analysis employed percentage analysis technique and descriptive analysis. The research procedure used Kemmis and MC Taggart’s model.

 

The result of research showed that the discussion group guiding service using behavioristic approachment effectively dealt with academic procrastination among the students. The result of action in cycle I showing the change of -29,28% (decreased 29,28%) was said not significant because it had not been consistent with the success indicator of at least 50%. The result of action in cycle II showed significant degression of -52,36% (decreased 52,36%).

 

Considering the result of research, it could be concluded that the discussion group guiding service using Behavioristic approachment was effective to deal with academic procrastination in the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmadu in the school year of 2016/2017.
