Abstract

Overall, physical education as a component of education has been widely recognized by various groups. In the implementation of physical education in primary schools, the teaching methods used have not been optimally effective and efficient, which do not meet the expected standards. Table tennis is one of the sports introduced to primary school students. In the table tennis sports lesson provided to students at SDIT Bina Madina Gedongan Karanganyar, Central Java, the majority of students feel less enthusiastic and lack confidence in practicing table tennis, primarily due to tables that are too wide and too high, resulting in minor injuries to students. To overcome the challenges in introducing table tennis to primary school students, the community service team has provided an innovative modification to the table tennis equipment at SDIT Bina Madina Gedongan Karanganyar to achieve the goal of introducing table tennis in physical education. The problems faced by students include (1) the suboptimal learning media for table tennis, (2) students feeling less enthusiastic and lacking confidence due to inadequate learning equipment, and (3) the lack of a conducive learning environment due to uncomfortable learning media. Based on the challenges faced by students, the community service team offers a solution in the form of a table tennis introduction learning media that utilizes existing resources in the environment of SDIT Bina Madina Gedongan Karanganyar, creating a new, practical, cost-effective, and enjoyable learning media for the students. This community service activity was conducted on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 06:30 onwards, in the classrooms of SDIT Bina Madina Gedongan Karanganyar. The participants in this activity were 20 students from grades 1 and 2. The outcome of this community service activity is the availability of cost-effective and practical modifications to the table tennis equipment. Therefore, it is expected that the teaching and introduction of table tennis in physical education will be more effective, efficient, and optimal.
