Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to preserve Batak cultural heritage through Martumba training a traditional movement art rich in educational, spiritual, and character-building values. Conducted over six weeks in North Tapanuli, the program engaged 26 participants, including teachers, school principals, and parents from PAUD-KB Yobel HKBP Banuarea. The program was implemented in three stages: preparation, training, and evaluation. The training was delivered through participatory methods, combining cultural material, movement demonstrations, and reflective discussions. Evaluation was conducted using Likert-scale questionnaires to assess participants’ understanding and skill development. The results indicated a significant improvement in cultural awareness, Martumba movement proficiency, and motivation to integrate local values into early childhood education and family practices. This initiative contributed to strengthening cultural identity, promoting inclusive character education, and fostering collaborative models between schools and communities.
