Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of group guidance with game techniques on students' altruistic behavior. The benefits of this research enrich the study of the effectiveness of group guidance services with game techniques on students' altruistic behavior. This type of research is pre-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest design research design. The study population was the students of the Junior High School Boarding School Al-Ishlah Bobos, and the sample was 8 students in grades VII and VIII who had a low level of altruistic behavior. The sample technique was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data collection method uses an altruist psychological scale. The data analysis technique used is the percentage descriptive analysis and the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an increase in altruistic behavior among students. The level of altruistic behavior of students before being treated in the form of group guidance services with game techniques is in moderate criteria (55%), and after being given treatment in the form of group guidance services with game techniques is in the very high category (86%). The Wilcoxon test results show that the calculated z value = 2.52 and z table = 4, so the calculated z value <z table means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that group guidance services with game techniques are effective for improving students' altruistic behavior.
